The Korean Language Program in Chonnam National University started on February, 2000 for foreigners who want to study at Chonnam national university, foreign graduate students, and foreign residents in Kwangju. The program has been a great help for those who try to get adjusted to new lives in Korea and to learn Korean language.

Korean language courses range from Level 1 to 5. Each class generally contains about 10-15 students and focuses on speaking, listening, reading, and writing based on students' active participation centered on learners. It also provides cultural exploration and field trips for each session.

Cultural exploration is one of the important curriculums in which students visit historic places and see many exotic attractions to gain knowledge about Korea and its culture. And it also will encourage students to practice the basic communication skills through the experiences such as ordering food at a restaurant or buying a ticket.

The courses are given by a full-time and two part-time instructors with M. A. or Ph. D degrees. They provide the regular classes and the Korean culture classes combined with language learning.
