Chonnam National University (CNU) has been a leader in the
southwestern area of Korea since it was established in 1952. Now it has a
worldwide reputation for success as a leading higher educational institution in
Asia. Situated in Kwangju, known as the city of art, CNU is close to
some of the most spectacular scenery in Korea as will as being in the heart of
Korean culture, history and arts. CNU is set in a beautiful park-like campus of
some 244 acres, just north of the downtown. Some of the most beautiful
countryside in Korea is just a short journey form the campus.

Program Description Chonnam National University prides itself on offering an
excellent experience to the participants of the Summer Camp for Korean Culture.
It offers a wide range of programs to suit all those interested in Korean
culture, especially in the southwestern region of Korea. The programs cover:
1. Korean language instruction and culture lecture 2. Experience of
Korean music, art, etiquette, Sondo(similar to yoga),traditional games,
T¡®al-chum (mask dance), making traditional crafts and cooking Korean food.
3. Museum field trips: The "5.18" cemetery, celadon porcelain,
temples, historic sites of the Choson Dynasty, Hyang-kyo etc.

Academic Calendar - Camp will begin at 10:00 a.m. on June 30. 2003
(Student Dormitory will be available from the evening of June 23
if requested in advance.) - Mon.-Thu. Korean language class(9:00 - 12:00
a.m.) Korean culture class(2:00 - 5:00 p.m.) - Fri.: field trip
Advantages - This camp is less expensive than other university camps, but
offers an opportunity to gain valuable insight into the Korean heritage. -
Dormitory accommodation is offered by Chonnam National University with no
extra charge.
