1) We have tried to adress upstream regulatory factors controlling sexual differentiation and behaviors in the rat hypothalamus using estrogen sterilized rat (ESR) model. We took advantage of differential display PCR technique and identified several novel genes which may play important roles in sexual differentiation. We are under process of charaterizing these genes. 2) Our researches are focused on the role of brain prolactin, connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) and pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP) under the environmental stress condition such as food and water deprivation and ischemia-induced brain stroke.
