The main interest is to investigate the control mechanisms of ovarian follicle development in the rat. These include the initiation of primordial follicle activation, the formation of follicle antrum, and selection of dominant follicles. Current research topics include;

  • Hormonal regulation and physiological roles of pituitary adenylate cyclase activating polypeptide (PACAP), recently identified neuropeptide, in the rat ovary.
  • Gonadotropin regulation of phosphodiesterase (PDE) mRNAs in the rat ovary.
  • Regulation of cGMP levels in ovarian cells by nitric oxide and natriuretic peptide pathways.
  • Cloning of genes by Differential-Display PCR (DD-PCR) involved in the initiation of primordial follicle activation, antrum formation, and ovulation
  • Hormonal control of follicle apoptosis in the rat ovary.
