The University awards a number of scholarships to highly-qualified graduate and undergraduate students, as well as to those who are in great financial need. The University has about ten on-campus scholarships and about seventy off-campus scholarships. The University is planning to have sixty percent of the students awarded with some form of scholarship by the year 2000. For example, students who rank the highest in the entrance examination of each college, and students from farming and fishing communities selected by special admissions are exempt from paying tuition and fees as long as they maintain a certain level of academic excellence.
