We are interested in polymeric optical fiber(POF) and its application to biological and chemical sensors. Currently, we are developing a new and functional cladding polymers for POF based on copolymerization and polymer method. Another research interest is the development of polymer/silicate nanocomposites with tailored properties. To exfoliate silicate in nanoscale we mainly use melt-mixing process. The effect of processing and thermodynamic variables on the structure of polymer/silicate nanocomposites is being investigated.
